WOW What a blast today. The rest of the gang got on site about 1 PM, about the hottest part of the day. It was quite hot today so I waited till later to ride out on the motorcycle. Alzie has a technician license now and 10 meters was dead. He asked if I wanted to try and activate? REALLY Ok sure! I got to get right on the radio without doing any setup work!

I was trying to start on 17 and 15 meters. I could get no action. I even tried 20 with no luck. I was trying to stay away from 40 meters because Den KE4I was doing CW on there. I ended up tuning up on 40 with 100 watts not thinking about it. He ended up screaming at me across the parking lot while sitting at his table. It scared me and I felt pretty bad. I was not used to the ftd710 that Alzie had there. Really great RX on that rig. It might top my 991a even!

We ended up getting 68 contacts. I was getting horse after about 15. After that Alzie took over using my callsign. I’ve never made that many before. Alzie is an absolute beast at POTA! 🔥 I hope that gives him the confidence to upgrade.

CW Academy intermediate is about to start back up. Not sure if I’m ready honestly. I have not been on the air. I’m going to try my best though. I look forward to meeting some more new friends. I’ve talked to John my advisor briefly. He also taught Dennis. My regular POTA partner in crime. I was pulling some partial calls out while listening to Den’s activation.

John says he will have me doing POTA in CW in no time.
